Sritama’s objective is to contribute to development of high-power porous electrodes to improve current density and energy efficiency of redox flow batteries by exploring electrode reaction kinetics.
The goal of her project is to perform various processes such as electrochemical wet treatment and surface functionalization on carbon reference materials to explore the effects of said modifications on the surface and electrochemical properties of carbon electrodes. This is crucial to gain insights into the electron transfer processes of the redox reactions at the electrode surface, and tailor the modifications for specific applications in redox flow batteries.
Another aspect of her project is to perform spectro-electrochemical tests using EPR spectroscopy for in-situ kinetic measurements.
The big picture is to implement the optimized electrodes in test cells and battery prototypes, through collaboration with her fellow SPACER doctoral candidates.
